This is a list of questions that our customers ask us about their new Flybooks, and the answers!
What's the battery life?
The Flybook's litium ion battery has an average service life of 3 hours. However, this can vary depending on the battery recharging modality chosen during the first days and on how the Flybook is used. Using, for example, peripheral devices such as WiFi, Bluetooth and GPRS, as well as the constant use of its hard-disk, may reduce battery life. We strongly advise to execute the calibration procedure every 2-3 months in order to verify the exact battery life and to be able to always get the most out of it.
How can I get the most out of my Flybook's batteries?
When buying the Flybook, we strongly recommend to fully execute the discharge and recharge procedure so as to preserve its service life. Proceed as follows: Execute two recharging procedures: A 14-hour-long recharge process, followed by a 10-hour-long one. Between the first and the second procedure, use your Flybook until the battery runs completely flat. In order to verify the exact battery duration and to maximize its potential, execute the calibration procedure every 2-3 months.
Can I buy an in-car power supply?
You can recharge your Flybook with a in-car power supply that can be bought separately.
How can I turn the image on the display upside down?
When using the Flybook in the ‘tablet' mode, you can conveniently turn the image on the display by 90°, 180° or 270°. In order to turn the image on the display, please start the Flybook Control Center by double-clicking on its icon in the Windows tray bar (it's the light blue square icon - next to the clock - bearing a white “F”). When the window “ Flybook Control Center ” appears, click on the small purple button in the lower left corner: after entering the monitor control area, choose the desired image rotation by clicking on the buttons you see in the upper left part of the display.

The Flybook V5 is not provided with an integrated optical unit, but can easily be connected through the external USB socket for CD-Rom, DVD Combo and DVD±RW drives. If you do not have these units, but you can connect through a LAN or Wireless web to a computer which has an optical unit, then you can share it in the web and install the program on your Flybook via the network.

Can I connect to an external monitor?
Yes, you can. It is possible to connect to an external monitor through a special connector provided on the Flybook rear side and enable it by clicking on the special button in the Flybook Control Center (double-click on the blue icon in the application bar - right next to the clock - bearing a white “F”), or on the keys “Fn” + “~”.
Can I connect to a TV device?
You can connect to your TV device through the special connector at the back side of the Flybook using the already provided cable adapter, together with a RCA male-male cable (commercially available).
Enable then the image on your TV device by clicking on the special button in the Flybook Control Center (double-click on the blue icon bearing a white F in the application bar - next to the clock), or by clicking on the keys “Fn”+ “ ~”, until the desired image appears.
Why am I not able to successfully send e-mail messages using a GPRS connection when I'm out of my office?
When a message is sent, instead of directly reaching its destination, it passes through a mail server called “server smtp”, which depends upon the provider who is providing you with the Internet connection. We have therefore to modify the e-mail configuration parameters by entering the smtp server address given by the company who is providing you with the GPRS service. When you are in your office, the smtp server will be the company who normally provides you with the internet connection.
Can I expand my RAM memory?
The maximum RAM memory allowed is as follows:
A33i - 512MB
V33i - 1GB (later units which have DDR2 can go up to 2GB)
V23 - 1GB (later units which have DDR2 can go up to 2GB)
V5 - 2GB
VM - 2GB
What can I do about not being able to use the software Ritepen for handwriting recognition properly?
Ritepen software recognizes the character during the writing depending on the movements you are doing.
It is not an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) so does not recognize the image. That means it depends on how we move the cursor while drawing the character on the screen.
I have installed anti-virus software on my Flybook, now after Windows loads the system gets stuck and I am not able to open programs and windows anymore. What can I do?
Starting from July 2005, all Flybooks come with Norman Antivirus pre-installed (demo version for three months, you can get the key by registering your new Flybook at http://www.flybook.biz/).
You will not be able to install another antivirus program, as the system will report that it is blocked.
In case you would like to use a different antivirus program, please remove the Norman software from the system.

Can I set a different resolution for the Flybook screen and for an external monitor?
The graphic card integrated in the Flybook can support a maximum resolution up to 2048x1536.
Because the LCD of Flybook has a resolution of 1024x600, setting up a bigger one, will not allow you to see all the image on the desktop but only a portion of 1024x600.
It is possible to increase the resolution using an external monitor, in this case the image will be different from the one in the Flybook.
