What are the differences between the V and A series ?
The A series uses a 1GHz Transmeta Crusoe processor, a relatively unknown processor manufacturer. The V series has processors manufactured by Intel which offer far better overall performance.
The V series is also EDGE compatible compared with the A series which is only GPRS compatible. For further information on connectivity technologies visit our htttp://www.flybookshop.co.uk/page/150/Connectivity_Explained.html page.
Other than the processor and connectivity technology difference the systems are identical in size and functionality.
What is the difference between the V23i and the V33i ?
The V23i has an Intel Celeron based processor which runs at 600MHz and is ideally suited for general internet browsing and word processing.
The V33i has a much more powerful Intel Pentium processor which runs at 1.1GHz and is suited more to people requiring more intensive applications.
The A series has a 1GHz processor, does that make it faster that the V23i and the same as the V33i ?
No, the processors in the three systems are all manufactured differently. While on paper the A33i model seems faster than the V23i, differences in the processor manufacture process mean the V23i is actually up to twice as fast as the A33i.
The same also applies to the V33 and the A33 which both have a 1ghz processor, as the V33 series performance is far superior.
